Ummm, my roommates and two high school friends and I had a totally-super-awesome pre-Thanksgiving last night. It was excellentastic; we had chicken and mashed potatoes and fried rice and corn and homemade salsa and salad and then cookies and ice cream and a fruit plate and amazing pumpkin bread. MAN, I ATE SO MUCH. :D Good practice stretching my stomach out for real!Thanksgiving next week. XD

I pity my international darlings who don't have a holiday dedicated to being happy about your life and then eating until you think you're going to blow up. ;_____;

Anyway, there were a lot of card games and a lot of fits of hysterical laughter, and it was all very enjoyable. :D

While we were doing the cooking, though, it was rather difficult to forget the intense verge-of-riot behavior going on up the hill. )

Best. Ever.

"Prop 8: The Musical." Featuring Jack Black, John C. Reilly, Neil Patrick Harris, and a shitload of other people too awesome to discriminate. XD

See more Jack Black videos at Funny or Die

If you want or need it, this is a friendly link. :]

Uhh, yeah, I swear I'm going to go do homework now. ...really! XD

Quickie before I go to class.

...bow chicka BOW wow.

It's weird waking up to an Obama US.  It shouldn't make a difference, and obviously nothing has changed yet, but it somehow DOES.  I felt strangely good as I flopped/rolled/fell out of bed.

The results are disconcertingly elusive, but I think Prop 8 is going to go through.  God damn it.  The helplessness is the worst: sitting there, having voted, and watching the people of my state -- my state, which is supposed to be full of uncontrollable liberal loonies who routinely hug trees and sometimes live in them -- manhandle blatant discrimination into our constitution.

But like [livejournal.com profile] eltea was pointing out, Obama's got it right.  We're on an upward slope here.  It's not as steep as I'd like, but it's angled, and we're going to get there eventually.  The war's just getting started.

Errr.  I have to flee to class now.  And haven't done my homework.  Whoops.

What the hell is this?

I just listened to Obama's Damn-Right-I-Won speech on my roommate's computer, and... he makes me want to be proud of this country.

Wow.

There is something legitimately inspirational about the words he says and the way he says them, something that makes me want to believe in our flag again.  It's all so simple and hopeful and idealistic, and I love it.

Yes, we can.

Congratulations, Soon-to-be-Mr. President.  You damn well earned it.

...now for Prop 8.  *deep breaths*

tierfal: (Light - Wet)
This is obviously a good excuse for intense spammage.

The Dawn of Remembered Time is finally done.

Another chapter of The Margins is up.  I've got another slightly older drabble in reserve, and then two newer ones I'm a bit more pleased with.

Drinking the Dark is the first part of [livejournal.com profile] richelle2972's birthday fic.  DAMN RIGHT, I didn't forget.  I just... um... fail.  I've got the first paragraph of an L/Light half, too; just nothing more than that... Someday I'll figure out what ought to, y'know, happen...

If you didn't see Moonrise for Halloween, well... there it is.  Light does not sparkle.  Thank you, though.

Please vote No on Prop 8.  I don't care what they tell you.  Civil unions are not the same as marriages, and the idea that discrimination against people based on their sexual preferences might get written into the California constitution makes me physically ill.  Think, and then vote, in that order.

...I have two days of French homework that needs to get done.  Do.  Not.  Want.

As far as NaNo goes, I've written 880 words since November technically started.  I sense problems.  That might be what those flashing red lights are for.  Or maybe that's the ambulance, coming to return my brain...?  *hopeful*

tierfal: (Improving Life)
Behold the wonders of Tierfal's Thursday, that is! >D

I VOTED TODAY.

Absentee ballots for the win.

Voting is sexy and everyone should do it. Except those loony-scary right-wing psycho-bigots who believe that homosexuality is a choice and a basis for discrimination.

In other news, it rained today. Not much, but a little, so there was much wet and damp. FINALLY, October. Yeah, I was getting a little sick of seventy-five and cloudless well into my autumn, thanks. XD

Assorted Details That You Don't Care About :D )

That is a right shitload of tags if I've ever seen one. 8D

Now I need to go type up all the TEIN I wrote in class so that [livejournal.com profile] eltea doesn't decide to refuse to feed me this weekend or something. D:

...nah, she'd get a much more creative revenge. :P The mind boggles. XD

WARNING: politics, sex, religion, and Tierfal-style, opinionated offensiveness ahead.

Cindy McCain and others have asserted that Alaska's proximity to Russia has contributed to Palin's foreign-policy knowledge. What dealings has she had with Russia?

The campaign has not come up with any. Palin has never been to Russia.

From this Slate article.

Sorry; I was amused. :P

...California is close to Mexico, so I speak Spanish.

Yo quiero Obama, chicas.

This one frightens me, though, and I think rightfully:

Did she want to ban books from the public library as mayor of Wasilla?

Yes, at least according to John Stein, the town's former mayor. Stein says Palin asked the Wasilla library "how she could go about banning books" with offensive language. It's not clear whether any book was ever banned.

I'm sorry, but anyone who believes in banning books in a public library should NOT be running my country.

Hey, while I'm talking politics, I should throw some religion in, just to make this worse:

Does she believe in evolution?

Palin said in a 2006 debate that she supports teaching creationism alongside evolution in public schools on the grounds that "healthy debate is so important." She did not insist that creationism become a part of the curriculum. In the same debate, she said she believed in a creator and avoided an up-or-down stance on evolution.

...dipwad.

I mean, who said that?

OH, SWEET, I can throw sex in, too!  I'm three for three!

What are Palin's views on abortion?

Palin has said she is "as pro-life as any candidate can be" and called abortion "an atrocity." She has supported mandatory parental consent, and while she is pro-contraception, has also indicated her preference for abstinence education over "explicit sex-ed programs." She would permit abortion in cases where the mother's life was endangered, but not in the case of rape or incest.

I saw the best flair button on Facebook once -- "If the fetus you're saving is gay, will you still fight for its rights?"

...yes, I will stop editorializing and hating on Ms. Palin now.

...for the moment. >:E
